ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In our country, the authority to sell prescription eyeglass lenses and frames, assemble eyeglasses, and sell all kinds of prescription lenses has legally been granted to opticians. The Opticianry Program is a two-year associate degree program aimed at training healthcare technicians who are educated to select optical devices in accordance with prescription data prepared by ophthalmologists for patients diagnosed with refractive errors, prepare them according to specified measurements, and ensure patient adaptation in order to eliminate or reduce visual impairments.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

At the Opticianry Program of Isparta University of Applied Sciences Senirkent Vocational School, in addition to theoretical education, students are provided with practical applications that they may encounter in their professional fields after graduation in our Opticianry laboratory equipped with modern machines and devices.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree diploma and the title of “Optician.” In our country, the existence of a filtered sunglasses market that is almost equal in size to the optical eyewear sector broadens the employment opportunities for opticians.

Opticians use optical tools and equipment to eliminate or alleviate anatomical or physiological disorders in people’s visual organs. For this purpose, they prepare eyeglasses in accordance with the prescriptions of patients diagnosed by ophthalmologists.

Opticians may open their own workplaces or work alongside other opticians. As long as there is no permanent solution to prevent visual impairments, there will always be a need for opticians. Therefore, Opticianry is a preferred profession with promising career prospects. In addition, people today have become more aware of the harmful effects of sunlight and have started using protective glasses with original lenses. These glasses are generally supplied by opticians and constitute one of the significant sources of income for them.
